I Still Love Track and Field

This past Saturday my wife attended a track and field meet at the 168th Street Armory here in New York City. Men and women from high schools and colleges from all over the country and Canada came to complete. I and my brother ran here in 1966 and 1967 in high school.  I hadn't been to the armory since 1974.

The armory has changed much. In my day the runners ran on wooden floors instead of the banked track they now have.  What thrills me the most watching these young men and women compete. My wife enjoyed it very much. I congratulated the University of Wisconsin men's team (I was sitting in their section). The women's crown was won by the University of Arkansas. We plan on attending a couple of more events.
