ALREADY

It's amazing that already the run to the 2020 presidential election has begun. Sad if you ask me. Who's working on behalf of us citizens in resolving the issues that really concern us? All the innuendos, backbiting, infighting and the other nonsense. I also see a serious lack of anyone with moral and spiritual positives.

Hispanic/Indigenous Heritage Day

Today we celebrated Hispanic/Indigenous Heritage Day at church. Rich traditions and food were part of the celebration. Indigenous people are all over the world and have been for centuries. Places like Mexico, central and South America , Australia and North America have a rich indigenous heritage. I have indigenous blood in my ancestry (Choctaw).

There was a spiritual ceremony of prayer, incense offerings, sage, and a reminder of what we must do for future generations. Land is the most valuable item for indigenous people and when it was stolen from us it affected many. What I see is a lack of respect and honor for a different culture. Many tribes are trying to hold onto whatever culture and customs they may have left. Sadly, other cultures have totally disappeared. Much of this was done in the name of progress.

I am mindful of the fact that my being transgender, or two-spirit if you will, has caused me to reflect on the journey I am on. It may not be easy but it's one that I must continue. To my Hispanic and Indigenous brothers and sisters, keep moving forward.

My Spiritual Birthday

It was on this day in 1972 that I accepted Jesus Christ an as my Lord and Savior. It was a life changing event for me in that my whole worldview was changed. I had a a love for all human beings and looked at each person the way Jesus would-with love and compassion. . It has been and continues to be an interesting journey.

My journey as a transgender person mirrors my Christian journey. Actually its the same journey but Christ gives me the strength to continue and inner peace that I feel. God is still the same today as He was when I made the decision to follow him. I wouldn't change a thing about that decision.

My Spouse Tied Transgender Equality with Women's Struggless

Being able to share my life as a transgender person with my spouse is a joy. Last night I shared with her about how transgender people have been discriminated against throughout the ages. I sensed that she has a better understanding of what it is to be trans.

I'm very open with her about my feelings, concerns, and struggles. She tied women's struggles with the struggles of transgender people. We are both spiritual people and believe that everyone has the right to be who they are. While I do believe she has some concerns about the possiblility of me transitioning (I'm not), I assure her that I still want to be married to her. I'm sure she is concerned abou my safety.

Being open is something that I take to heart. I believe that by being open there maybe someone out in public who is struggling and desires to be authentic. Perhaps, someone may be encouraged by my example.
