Be strong, be fearless, be beautiful. And believe that anything is possible when you have he right people there to support you.
~Misty Copeland
There is one particular way to be who you are. As a trans person I have created my own particular style. The important thing is that I'm comfortable with it.
Each person has his/ her own way of presenting. I enjoy the numerous identities and expressions. If they are happy with themselves so I'm I. It's taken some a long time to become the person that they truly are. I congratulate you on living your reality.
Get up, stand up, stand up for your rights. Get up, stand up, don't give up the fight.
~Bob Marley, Singer (1945-1981)
A new month has come. The year is moving fast. This past Sunday at service I shared how LGBTQ+ people need to live their lives openly. Yes, there will be those who say we shouldn't exist. We have been here all along, and we're not going away.
By our living our lives we influence the next generation of LGBTQ people. Icons like Marsha P. Johnson, Christine Jorgensen, Holly Woodlawn, and Sylvia Rivera were an influence in my life. I came out as an adult and have never been happier. I didn't know I was transgender until shortly before I came out. Better late than never.
As I move ahead, I will continue to be a positive force in our struggle for dignity and justice. There are forces against us that want to stop us in our tracks I am confident that the young people will pick up the mantle after I depart this world. Enjoy your life and live it to the fullest.
The state of Tennessee passed a bill banning public drag shows and gender affirming care. This will go to the Supreme Court.
The will to persevere is often the difference between failure and success.
~David Sarnoff, Inventor (1891-1971)
Change is a constant in life. It can be difficult at times. New ways of doing things. We long for the old but it's never coming back.
Many of my old haunts are gone, being replaced by new ones. I'm not a wide eyed twenty something; I am a septuagenarian who has seen so much change. One has to roll with it or get left behind.
I have a limited time left however I am looking positively to the future. I enjoy learning new things and being challenged.
Positivity, confidence, and persistence are key in life, so never give up on yourself.

Disappointment is a part of life. We may have lost out on a job opportunity. Or our plans didn't work out the way we hope. When disappointment turns into bitterness, it's like poison to the heart. It blinds people from the opportunities that are still out there.
It is wise to learn from our disappointments. We can't change the outcome but we can see that this won't last forever. Sometimes we may need to assess where we are and where we want to go. A car cannot run on an empty tank and neither can we.
I am a believer in timing. Just because something did not happen now doesn't mean that it won't happen later. I didn't know that I was transgender until I was in my mid-fifties. It wasn't my time when I was younger. I say that better late than never. Looking back I'm pleased that my life turned out this way. Disappointments are appointments for a future time.

A number of bills targeting transgender students are coming up in the house and senate of Arizona.

What boggles the mind is that some people want to focus on taking away the rights of transgender and non-conforming people. Yet infrastructure needs repair. The homeless need housing and medical care. Schools need to improve and focus on education. It's the flame game where politicians blame a minority group for all the ills in the country. This is nothing new. It takes the heat off of them.
Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others.
~Marcus Tullius Cicero, Roman Statesman (106 BC-43 BC)
I have been following all the rhetoric Democrats and Republicans have been spewing out. Kathy Hochul of New York was sworn in as the first ever female governor. There has been virtually nothing about the political parties are going to help the average citizen. Governor Hochul mention nothing about senior citizens.
Admittedly, I have soured on the political process because politicians are doing the corporations bidding. It's all about profits. Prices are soaring. The medical system is a joke. Kids are being dumbed down in education. LGBTQ+ people are under attack It's time for us citizen to resist and act on resolving these issues.

Many anti-trans bills have been brought forth to many legislatures around the country. What opponents may not have figured on was people fighting for their trans children. People will do anything to protect their children. Getting the care that they need is one of the basics of life.
Just because a law is legal does not make it right. That's been played out over many decades. I hope that loudmouths like Marjorie Tyler Greene and Lauren Boebert will be taken to task and exposed for the harm they are doing to trans and nonconforming kids.
IF YOUR FUEL TANK IS EMPTY, FILL IT UP AGAIN. IF YOU CANNOT GO ANY FARTHER, REST. REASSESS WHAT YOU WANT, THEN PROCEED SLOWLY.
A question I would ask to those people groups who would deny trans affirming treatment because of their "religious beliefs". They say that it denies them their religious freedom.
The first question is how does my being trans affect anyone's religious freedom? I am a Christian who happens to be trans. This is the path God has chosen for me. Each person has his/ her own journey. Some may not understand but it is their journey nevertheless.
The second question I would ask is if you are a medical professional, would you deny someone care because they clash with your so-called "religious beliefs?" If you are a doctor you took the Hippocratic Oath to give the person the best medical treatment.
I probably will never have the chance but I would dearly love to stand before these committees and ask them these two questions.
With the suicide death of Stephen 'tWitch' Boss, a former DJ on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, struck a chord with what the LGBTQ++ deals with me and others that I know. Only 40, Mr. Boss ended his life though it seemed that he had it all.
One never knows what someone may be dealing with. Wellness checks are good, but a conversation with the person may be more beneficial. A suicide rocked me to the core several years ago, having no one I knew who did this. It's very important to seek help if you feel this way.

With the Democratic victory of Raphael Warnock in Georgia, it tells me that many folks are not on board with the Republican platform. LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, Jewish people, Christians, and minorities are under attack. It is a time to be alert. Our rights are being threatened. Our enemies want us to go back in the closet. To disappear. I for one am NOT doing that. I'm out and proud. and will live my life!

As more information comes out about the shooter in the Club Q incident, I would also lay the blame on the inflammatory rhetoric being spewed out from elected officials and even from some pulpits. It's as if these angry people were given permission to afflict those they deem unworthy. Minorities, women, LGBTQ+, immigrants, Jewish people, etc.
I believe that those people who encourage this type of behavior are just as guilty as the person(s) who commit them. Take note of these people who want to see those they view as 'less than' just disappear. Somewhere down the line, these antagonists will reap the seeds they have sown.
