GENEVIEVE'S GEMS

Hanging on to past hurts will only keep us from seeing new horizons.

Genevieve, I've been too long from here and I'm so glad I've finally got a chance to catch up on what I've missed. While the nature of your desert journey is unique to you (as it is to everyone), I believe we all come out of the desert with a deeper universal understanding of who we are and Who God is.

When we're in the desert, it's just Him and us. We've left the opinions and disregard of others at the desert's edge and we've reached a place where what He thinks and how it affects our thinking are all that matter. And what I'm finding is that many, many of us--regardless of orientation, faith community, or position in life--are at that place right now. We're growing by leaps and bounds. And we're experiencing some serious growing pains in the process.

While I backtracked through these glorious posts, I couldn't help hearing the old spiritual, "Tell me how did you feel when you come out the wilderness. Were you leaning on the Lord?" Without realizing it, I soon was humming it while I read.

Deserts aren't for dwelling. They're for getting through with God's help and guidance. Walk on, my beloved friend. Much joy and wisdom awaits you on the other side!

Blessings always,
Tim
