COMMENTARY

Disappointment is a part of life. We may have lost out on a job opportunity. Or our plans didn't work out the way we hope. When disappointment turns into bitterness, it's like poison to the heart. It blinds people from the opportunities that are still out there.

It is wise to learn from our disappointments. We can't change the outcome but we can see that this won't last forever. Sometimes we may need to assess where we are and where we want to go. A car cannot run on an empty tank and neither can we.

I am a believer in timing. Just because something did not happen now doesn't mean that it won't happen later. I didn't know that I was transgender until I was in my mid-fifties. It wasn't my time when I was younger. I say that better late than never. Looking back I'm pleased that my life turned out this way. Disappointments are appointments for a future time.

BLAME GAME

What boggles the mind is that some people want to focus on taking away the rights of transgender and non-conforming people. Yet infrastructure needs repair. The homeless need housing and medical care. Schools need to improve and focus on education. It's the flame game where politicians blame a minority group for all the ills in the country. This is nothing new. It takes the heat off of them.

WHAT ABOUT US?

I have been following all the rhetoric Democrats and Republicans have been spewing out.  Kathy Hochul of New York was sworn in as the first ever female governor. There has been virtually nothing about the political parties are going to help the average citizen. Governor Hochul mention nothing about senior citizens.

Admittedly, I have soured on the political process because politicians are doing the corporations bidding. It's all about profits. Prices are soaring. The medical system is a joke. Kids are being dumbed down in education. LGBTQ+ people are under attack  It's time for us citizen to resist and act on resolving these issues.
